Beautifully appointed Pyrenees chateau to exclusively book

This truly beautiful 19th century chateau is set in 10 acres of grounds and woods. It is perfectly located in the south-west of France between ski and beach resorts and in the heart of the very well known Jurançon vineyard.

This chateau has recently been refurbished to a high standard with luxurious bedrooms and a suite complete with four poster bed and claw bath. All rooms have air conditioning and private en suite bathrooms.

There are 12 bedrooms which can sleep up to 23 adults and two children, access to the kitchen/dining area and three lounges with original features plus free WIFI.

This chateau was built on the old hunting grounds of King de Navarre whose own chateau is the feature of the nearby city of Pau. A famous French artist Victor Galos painted a landscape picture of the chateau, which hangs up until this day in the gallery at the museum of Pau. In 1836 the Duke of Montebello, the son of the Chief Marshal for Napoleon first purchased the beautiful chateau and it is believed that Napoleon often stayed here. There have been many well to do owners/occupiers since including a Russian princess. The current owners Alexandre and Marie are a French couple who fell in love with the chateau and purchased it in 2006 and since have restored it to its former glory. They originally came from Pau but since have been working in the UK luxury hotel and catering industry originally. They speak fluent English.

You can also enjoy a beautiful, heated private swimming pool and the expansive grounds which also have a BBQ area. If you are looking for a nice relaxing time, this chateau is it. Pau and its surroundings have gastronomic restaurants. In the heart of the Jurançon vineyard you can meet the producers directly and taste their wine on their premises.

Pau, the second biggest city in Aquitaine after Bordeaux, is only 10 minutes away as is the nearest train station. Pau is known as the Royal City, with its prominent King's castle, and also the Green City because of its many parks and gardens.

The chateau is perfectly located between ski resorts (45 minutes away) and the beach (Biarritz is an hour away). It is also close for trekking in the Pyrénées and a day trip to Spain.

POA and bookings only May to Sept.
