Kir and kir royale recipes

Kir is a popular French cocktail made on blackcurrant liqueur and white wine. In France it is usually drunk as an apéritif before a meal. There are many variations of kir eg kir cardinal is made with red wine instead, kir normand/breton is made with Normandy/Brittany cider instead of white wine and kir peche is made with peach liqueur.

  • Creme de Cassis
  • White wine

  • Place a measure of creme de cassis into a glass
  • Top up with white wine

For a Kir Royale, use champagne instead of white wine (and Chambord which is a black raspberry liqueur often replaces creme de cassis).
