French Christmas cookies/Sables de Noel


  • 3 cups of plain flour
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • cinnamon, salt, vanilla
  • 250 g butter


  • Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt then add eggs and vanilla, mix til combined
  • Add the butter gradually and mix until combined.
  • Divide the dough into quarters, shape into round disc, wrap in plastic and refrigerate 8 hours.
  • Roll each disc out on floured surface til 2.5mm thick then cut into shapes, star cutter ideal.
  • Bake at 160 deg for 12 to 15 min.
  • When done you can bundle up as gifts, ice and eat or create decorations by placing a hole in for string before cooking.
