Sharon's recent trip with Tina, Moliere and RWC

Hope you enjoyed reading my daily posts during the week I was in France. If you missed them they are at: like/follow us while there and enter our competition - see below.

The highlights of my French trip would have to be:
- staying at the Riviera spa, enjoying their gourmet meals by a clear blue Mediterranean bay with sandy shores in between very interesting hydro treatments
- being around the hype of the RWC with France coming a close runner up in the final against NZ
- dining just about everywhere but especially Isle sur la Sorgue
- having some fellows in the boulangerie chat me up, showing the gallic art of seduction is not lost
- seeing Tina Arena sing in front of a French crowd who knew the words of all her English and French hits
- watching the Moliere play Tartuffe in Paris
- eating a foie gras macaroon in Aix en Provence.

If this sounds interesting, read more on facebook.
Our next trip is probably not until our property purchasing tour next September unfortunately.
C'est la vie - better then than never again. Sharon

'Dear France, sweet country of my childhood'

French Australian author Pascal Inard has published a book written in both English and French (chère France, doux pays de mon enfance). While Pascal loves his adopted country as well as the land of birth, his book looks back to his and his grandparents’ childhoods bringing back memories of happiness and rediscovering all the beauty and charm of France. He has put the book together with his artist wife as a tribute to his homeland with beautiful photos, delicious recipes, vintage postcards/posters, stories and facts.

A very pleasant surprise for us was seeing a section on our Isle sur la Sorgue where Pascal's aunt once lived. He loves the town as do others who have stayed at our our place there: read their comments.

You will find a link to more about Pascal's book on our facebook page - we have a copy of his book for one of our members who follows/likes our page.

French recipes US 1st lady served Princess Grace

At the luncheon the President and Mrs John F Kennedy hosted for Princess Grace of Monaco in 1961, the dishes served by the White House's French chef Rene Verdon (born in our village of Pouzauges, the local baker's son who died this year) included:

- salade mimosa: lettuce and egg salad named after wattle like mimosa flowers created by strained yolks

- strawberries romanoff: a dessert of strawberries and cream created by a French chef for a Russian tsar.
