Sharon’s recent trip: Paques chateaux et plages

While my January trip was spur of the moment to go to the Davis Cup, this trip to France had been planned for a while. It was to be a mother/son trip to an easter egg hunt at a Paris chateau, then to be at a D-Day cemetery in Normandy for ANZAC Day:

- as well as visiting the chateau Vaux le Vicomte for the easter egg hunt/chases (they have adult ones too), we stayed at another chateau complete with its own moat, bordering the Fontainebleau forest (see below more on this chateau and how you can stay)

- we chose a little known cemetery in Hermanville to pay our respects for ANZAC Day, leaving koalas for the three D-Day fallen Aussies buried there.

While not meant to be the main highlights of this trip, other places we visited on the way were notable:

- the drive along the non d-day Normandy beaches with their port villages and unique houses

- Honfleur, the most famous of the harbour towns with its cafes and cute houses plus crepes and cider!

- the Etretat town/beach with its famous cliffs, our photo not quite as good as Monet's painting.

You can still join us for part of our next trip which will be for our property purchasing tour in September.

More trip details/photos in late April facebook posts.

Read about a property purchase and one for sale

Last month we told you about one of our former tour participants, Tara, who recently purchased her dream house in France. You can now read more about her journey and some lucky twists of fate along the way:

Thanks Tara for writing this and for the lovely things you say about us and our tour as well as Jacqueline, the property finder we put you in touch with.

Mike, the owner of the Languedoc winepress has his place up for sale for 360,000 euro. It is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom stone house set in the heart of the old village with a walled garden and swimming pool. The house is spread over 3 floors and is surrounded by countryside with vines and orchards. Additional accommodation is also available on the site and included in the sale price that being a separate 3 bedroom converted stable block. The once fortified village of Vallabrix which the house is in, has an 11th century church and clock tower. Nearby towns include the popular market town of Uzes, Nimes and Avignon. The place rents ($3000/wk) well especially during the summer with the pool. If you are interested, email us.

New apartments and chateau to rent in/near Paris

If you are looking for a place to stay this European summer, we have two new Paris apartments to rent:

-  a renovated 2 bedroom apartment in the 10th in a 1900's building near the canal St Martin ($275 pn):

- a mezzanine studio in the quiet and leafy 13th near the Seine and the floating pool on it ($180 pn):

The appeal of apartments in the centre of Paris is the ease of access to all the wonderful things Paris offers but for a similar price and only a short train trip away, you can stay in a room in a glorious 17th century chateau near Fountainebleau (the one we stayed in at Easter). The fantastic thing about this chateau stay, unlike many in France, is that it is in the middle of a village on a train line. The rooms are of a high standard and the expansive grounds (with moat) can keep you entertained enough without needing to venture into the village. It is a family run place with plenty of past history linked with kings and nobles. Rent from $295 per room per night:

Upcoming French desire property events

Keep an eye out for an email soon from us about our property purchasing webinars happening hopefully in the next few weeks. Many people have requested we run information nights across the country again but these are logistically difficult so we are hoping this technology can make it easier for all.

For the real thing in property purchasing experience, why not join our September tour to France's west:
