Our recent French trip: new villages, vistas, visits

We saw so many new places this trip that we couldn't contain them all in one article - this will now be part 2 of 3 of our recent trip. In this article we tell you about our time in glamourous Nice-Monaco Cote d'Azur, mountainous Corsica and hip/happening Marseille.

Along the way there were a few surprises like sleeping on the cruise-ship-like, nine level Corsican car ferry complete with dance floor, discovering the outdoor swimming pool alongside the harbour in Monaco and being devastated to see an old stone maison with sea/mountain views left to rot on Corsica.

More on, including photos of, the places we saw at:

Many of these spots are only a short distance from our place in Isle sur la Sorgue - we have extended our summer stay special to bookings made by the end June to rent at low season prices (20% off)...ALSO:

The Tour de France exact route with towns has been released and it goes right around our Pouzauges place on Day 1 Sat 2 Jul en route to Puy du Fou. If you are in France that weekend, our house is free or watch SBS to see our region and maybe our village.

New rental (and restaurant for sale) with Aussie link

This two-level cottage, The Lemon Myrtle, is part of an original stone farmhouse in the small village of Les Pezieres, nestled in the magnificent Bugey region of the Jura mountains close to the historic spa town of Aix-les-Bains, Lake Geneva and Lyon.  The property offers clean mountain air, scenic country drives and gastronomic delights nearby including the unique French-Australian cuisine of your on-site hosts at ‘Le Boomerang’ restaurant next door. The apartment includes original stone and timber features, mountain views and a private courtyard. Rent $500/week:

The owners of 'Le Boomerang' are also considering selling their restaurant - a little piece of Australia in the heart of France. For hosts, Aussie Brent and French RoseMarie, the restaurant has been a labour of love for more than 20 years. They have created a unique place where people from near and far come to relax and enjoy good company, beautiful surroundings, fine wines and mouth-watering cuisine which combines local ingredients with Australian bushfoods and spices. However, it is coming time for them to hang up their BBQ tongs, and hand their place over to someone who also shares their passion for France, Australia and good food. If this sounds like you,

UK article on French property + new place for sale

An article in the Daily Telegraph we saw when we were away questioned whether or not now is the time to buy overseas - they suggested with signs of a global recovery under way that it could be the time to act especially in France which was 'already showing modest price rises for the first time since 2007'. Lloyd's were quoted as saying they 'expect interest in overseas property to return, possibly quite strongly' maybe this place might interest you before prices rise further?

Perigord stone house in countryside with charm+
