David's tour group immersed in French in NoumeaIn mid October, David and a small group of people interested in French culture and language ventured only two hours away to the tropical island paradise of New Caledonia. There they enjoyed shopping at the local markets then a picnic on the beach to eat the produce they had picked out as well as a meal at an exclusive restaurant at the boat harbour (and the French wine was divine!). The architectural heritage of Noumea bus trip was educational (both the buildings and the French voice over) as was the native museum they visited.  By all accounts the choice activities were the game of boules instructed by local expert Gaby (in photo bottom left with David) and the island boat trip, not to mention the numerous beach cafe visits and ocean/bay swims.

David will be taking another group on an immersion long weekend late April/early May 2010 - if you might like to come along, email us to register your interest.

Cottage Rue de Moulin

Two Burgundy places for rent including Todd's

Burgundy is famous for its picturesque rural landscape with beautiful canals and its Cote d’Or wine region. It is also steeped in history with many notable old towns  including Beaune, Vezelay, Dijon, Autun and Auxerre. Our two new houses to rent are close to all of these:

'La Cachette', the first of our new Burgundy places, is a large three bedroom/two bathroom cottage in the medieval village of Varzy. The cottage's origins date back to 1570 and it is just down the rue from the St Pierre eglise. It has everything you would need for a family holiday, including wireless internet access.

The place Todd finally owns after many month's of us following his journey is the aptly named 'La Petite Folie'. Freshly renovated and painted throughout, the house has new furniture and appliances, cable TV/DVD and wireless internet. Enjoy the spectacular views and peaceful surrounds of La Petite Folie from every room.

'The French Kissers' teen romantic comedy review

This movie was a sensation of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and a surprise hit of the European summer, achieving over one million admissions in eight weeks.   It tells the story of two teenagers who fantasise over the female sex but rarely go even close to talking, let alone kissing, them until one of the boys hooks up with a girl.

'The French Kissers' is fresh and authentic, so long as you don't mind seeing pimples and teenage boys doing what they tend to do a lot. It tells of the romantic and other awkwardness of youth - in cinemas officially from 26 December, for more go to
