Strong AUD lets Aussies invest in French property

While the Aussie dollar continues to buy over 70 euro cents and Australian property values are significantly higher than other countries, French property is a very attractive option. This was noted in the recent Financial Review article - The World's a Weekender which also mentioned French desire and our tour.

Because of our strong dollar and rising number of Aussie buyers in France, we have been approached by French agents and property owners offering their services and houses for sale for our members.

Jacquie helps many people find the right French property and also offers an ongoing property management service. She is now managing our Pouzauges rental property - see how well maintained it looks left. Services Jacquie offers for our place includes airport/TGV pick up and drop off as well as individual guided tours of our very special area.

Jacquie (below right) is keen to help more Australians buy and rent in the Vendee which this year hosted the start of the Tour de France and is the main area our property purchasing tour runs in. After returning from our most recent tour in June, David will be taking the next group over mid September 2012.

The Vendee is regularly listed amongst the leading French departments in terms of quality of life and is also known for its economic excellence. It has 160km of sandy beaches, the second highest number of sunny days in France and five million tourists a year...
find out more about the Vendee and its villages.

If you are interested in Jacquie’s services, our tour or staying at our place in the Vendee,

Sarah Lancashire is an English estate agent working in the Gers and the Tarn et Garonne departments in the Midi Pyrenees. She recently met a few Aussies searching for properties in the area and realised that buying in France has become an attractive prospect for Australians, so approached us with her properties. We will feature Sarah's area and properties in next month's newsletter but in the meantime, check out some of her places: Le Pin, St Clar and Lectour.

Also next month, more on French property purchasing including real estate as well as economic statistics/expert views like comment on the low risk for French banks given French household debt remaining one of the lowest of all OEDC countries. In the meantime, to help with purchasing, don't forget our eguide:

Recipe for macaroons (including an easier way)

Macaroons were plentiful on Bastille Day last month – Bon Choix in Brisbane had divine red, white and blue ones and there were many to be found at the Brisbane French Festival. Donna Hay has gourmet chocolate cream macaroons as a packet mix in supermarkets; or you still make them from scratch:
