Maison de la Gargoyle in the ancient quarter of Pezenas This charming 16th Century apartment with a stone terrace and gargoyle overlooking the courtyard, is available for holiday rentals, short and long term. Maison de la Gargoyle with shuttered windows overlooking the romantic cobblestoned street below, is in the heart of the ancient quarter of Pezenas, within the Languedoc Roussillon region in the south of France. Pezenas is an attractive and authentically french old town, with narrow streets to explore as well as several grand old houses and hotels. Its town centre was one of the first in France to be protected as a historic monument. There is a well preserved Jewish ghetto dating from the middle ages, just metres from Maison de la Gargoyle. With many artisan craft and pottery boutiques, in addition to the artists gallerys and antique shops, the cobblestone streets are a pleasure to wander and explore during your holiday. There are cafes and restaurants throughout the town, beckoning you in to enjoy the local produce, fresh from the markets.
The town is especially proud of its association with Moliere, the theatre playwright, who brought his troupe to the town on several occasions, and has a monument to commemorate the fact. Each summer, Pezenas hosts the Morondela de l'Arte, and music and street entertainment take over the town.
In addition to the many boulangeries, patisseries, fresh seafood and butcher shops, there is an English grocery shop within the village selling English papers, books, food. The large master bedroom has a king sized bed [convertable to 2 singles] and windows on two sides, overlooking both the street and stone terrace. Perfect for couples or two people, the holiday apartment also has a second bedroom with a double sofa bed so can be enjoyed as a reading room over looking the terrace or a childrens/guest bedroom. Enjoy your fresh breakfast croissant from one of the many local patisseries or a late afternoon aperitif on the cool stone terrace!
