The Terrace apartment in Bordeaux 'The Terrasse' in Bordeaux is one of the relatively few apartments available for holiday rental in the heart of the ancient and historic centre of Bordeaux. More than that, it has a unique and wonderful terrace large enough to dine on or simply take in the fabulous view of the river, Napoleon's Ponte de Pierre - the bridge that took his troops to Paris- and the Porte de Bourgogne, at the end of the Victor Hugo Avenue, where once one of the city's gates stood. The building in which the apartment is located has historic fame of its own with a world heritage listed staircase contained within it. Bordeaux's historic centre has been revitalised in the last few years and is now one of the biggest pedestrian precincts in Europe - yet compact enough to be visited on foot. In the area adjacent to the apartment are wonderful cobbled streets with great restaurants and bars as well as an open-air food market and antique and bric-a-brac market on weekends. To the left of the apartment is the Quartier de la Rousselle, with its beautiful old houses and on the right (one minute walk away) is the Quarter Saint-Michel with its amazing cathedral. Visitors to this apartment also explore the Bordeaux region, mainly to discover the wines that have made the area world famous. The apartment has two bedrooms and is suitable for up to four people. It is centrally located and easy to find as it is directly opposite the famous Pont de Pierre. Located on the top floor with a superb view of the famous Porte de Bourgogne, it has a lift and is close to parking. The apartment has WiFi internet access, a selection of board games, books, DVDs, music and TV. For the wine connoisseur there is a wine decanter and filter! What it is like to stay is summarised by one person's comment: What a pleasure to stay somewhere that does not feel like a rental property. This was like a home, with all the little luxuries. I loved the "wine on arrival" concept and the kitchen with a induction stove. The location was perfect, the view was stunning and we made several day trips to vineyards. This is one of the best places we have ever stayed.
