It lies on the Orb river and is close to the spa town of Lamalou les Bains as well as historic Languedoc landmarks. The village has two boulangeries and a number of shops - the charcouterie is featured in Rick Stein's French Odyssey TV program. Good restaurants are located in and around town. Vineyards surround the village's mostly soft-coloured stoned houses with their red tiled roofs. The house has views of the countryside as well as a quiet, cosy terrace.

Chatel-Censoir is close to the UNESCO heritage listed village of Vezelay and the pretty hilltop old town of Auxerre. The village is charming and small, yet has an excellent selection of local services. Burgundy is an area reknowned for its wine and rolling countryside - the village that gives its name to the famous wine of Chablis is also closeby.
