Orange
The town, north of Avignon in the Vauclause region of Provence, is renowned for its Roman architecture as it possesses the best preserved theatre in Europe as well as an Arc de Triomphe. These were both built during the reign of Augustus and are listed as a world heritage site. The surrounding town is quite nice with walking streets and squares in centre ville lined with small shops, restaurants/terrace cafés and large shady plane trees.
