Palais Royal

The Jardin du Palais Royal
is a lovely park/square north of the palace which is surrounded by beautiful similar 18
th
century buildings containing attractive shopping arcades with polished wooden shopfronts, mosaic tiles and stained glass arched rooves. These gardens are like most others found in Paris with their orderly layout, deciduous trees and clay paths but these also have many large pieces of modern art scattered throughout the gardens including a two metre high and five metres long crawling baby and seven pairs of jean clad legs in a line. In between the palace and gardens is an area which itself is a controversial sculpture of black and white checks and short columns popping up from the ground.
