Located at 5 Avenue Rapp, Cafe de l'Alma is a chic, hot cafe in Paris. It was previously a boring bar/cafe which in its day had visitors such as Alfred Hitchcock but had gone downhill until its recent transformation into a sophisticated restaurant/bar with oak floors with a green, mocha and vanilla colour scheme as decorated by an emerging interior desinger. A French gourmet magazine wrote that it is 'one to try without hesitating' - it is the place that the more glamorous people of Paris go. Another Paris guide rated it as one of Paris' cool cafes. Upstairs is non-smoking and they have a narrow terrace for a late afternoon drink. The menu has well chosen and appetising dishes (especially the entrees) which are not cheap but of a standard that would rival many of the good restaurants in Paris. For mains the steak and duck are very good. They also have colouring-in pencils for children which is refreshing for a nice restaurant to treat children well. Ph: 01 45 51 56 74.
