French win Cup mais pas retirement age protest

French jockey Gerald Mosse savours victory after winning the 150th Melbourne Cup on Americain from France. The horse is trained by the French version of Bart Cummings, Alain de Royer Dupre. Once owned by the 'perfume kings' of Paris, the Wertheimer brothers of the House of Chanel, Americain was bought by two Aussies in the US. After the biggest win of the horse's and his career, Mosse pronounced 'I love Australia' and changed his flight home so he could stay here longer to celebrate.

Meanwhile in France, protesters weren't so successful in influencing their government not to legislate to increase the retirement age, despite their many countrywide strikes in recent times.

New places for sale Limousin/Poitou CharentesWe have six new places for sale by the property agent team in the region: John, Cathe and Bev.

 

Limousin/Poitou Charentes is the most reasonably priced region in all of France, according to the French real estate institute. It is also known for its rural beauty, chateaux and charming villages.

Book shares memoirs of Aussie/Paris showgirl

French facts -  November holidays and events
France has two public holidays in November: All Saints Day (Toussaint) on 1 Nov when traditionally you bring flowers (chrysanthemums) to the graves of departed loved ones and 11 Nov which is Armistice Day commemorating WW1's end where celebrations include military parades. Nouveau beaujolais is also released on the third Thursday of the month:
