Our recent French trip: events - planned and not

We had planned to be in France this trip to see a few events we knew about including ANZAC day in Le Somme and the Monte Carlo tennis masters.

What made this trip one of our best was the unplanned events we happened across including a Good Friday Corsican procession carrying Jesus and Mary through town and the huge bi-annual antique markets in Isle sur la Sorgue we forgot about.

For more about our trip, these events and photos:
www.frenchdesire.com.au/regions/trips/2011_events

We also have a summer stay special at low season prices for bookings made by end of May for our place in Isle sur la Sorgue (20% off) - be there for other summer events that happen June to September.

Watch out next month for the 2nd story on our trip about some of the new places we visited including Corsica, Marseille and its Cote d'Azur to Toulon...

New rental in traditional Provence seaside ville

This ground floor studio apartment which can accommodate up to four people is situated in the pedestrian old quarter of Sanary-sur-Mer, a picturesque Provencal village. It has the added feature of also having a quaint fishing port and beach on the Cote d'Azur which the property is easy walking distance from while also being in a lovely side street providing privacy, peace and quiet. Easily accessible by TGV and with rent starting at only $400/wk, there is little to keep you from a French holiday on the Med:

Regional France house price increases in 2010

The French notaires have just released data on regional house price rises during 2010. All regions had an increase with a third rising over 7%. We have included this data in our recently updated regions of France eguide (updated information also on special villages in each region) still available for only $19.95:

http://www.frenchdesire.com.au/products/45/

Article and statistic links to this price data can also be found on our platine site for our platine members.

Based on the notaires report above, house prices in the Centre region of France, including the Loire Valley, rose by 3.6% during 2010 but latest figures from the French national real estate institute suggest that this region saw the same rise as last year again just in the first quarter of 2011, so it could be a good time to consider buying in this region. We still have for sale on our website, for the same 2010 price of 215,000 euro, this charming 19th century vine-covered fully renovated 4 bedroom stone house. It is nestled in a village dominated by a Romanesque church and close to both Tours and the medieval city of Loches. With house prices on the rise in France and the Loire, you will need to be quick to buy this place at this price:
