French property 2010 trends and 2011 predictions

The property market in France is showing strong signs of a post GFC recovery with sale numbers up 15% in 2010 over 2009. After two consecutive years of price falls, average French property prices rose in 2010. So perhaps if you have been putting off looking at buying a place in France, now is the time to reconsider before prices go higher. The added strong Aussie dollar and low French interest rates also make the prospect more appealing. For assistance with purchasing your dream place in France, we can help with our:

- information nights in Brisbane (22 Feb) and Sydney (1 Mar) following the Melbourne session last Tuesday where we had 50 of our members come along
- e-guides on how to purchase French property
- 1 on 1 consulting service, property purchasing tour to France 20-24 June.

See film Juliette Binoche won Cannes prize for

Binoche won best actress at the Festival De Cannes 2010 for her role as an antique dealer in this modern love story set against a Tuscan landscape. We just saw 'Certified Copy' and thought it was captivating especially Juliette's performance (you never learn the name of her character). The movie explores the nature of relationships, making you wonder throughout what is real and what is not.

'Certified Copy' is currently in national release. View the trailer at: click here.

Certified copy/Copie Conforme is also showing as part of the Adelaide film festival (24 Feb - 6 Mar) along with 3 other French films. The organisers have a competition for French desire's Adelaide members to win a double pass to a movie: to enter, click here.

Australia's annual French film festival is about to start again. There are almost 50 films being shown in most Australian capital cities from 8 March to 10 April. This is the 22nd year the event has been run.

You can find detail about both film festivals on French Australia: www.frenchaustralia.com.au/event

Recipe for porc rillettes (Rillettes de Tours)
Our Pouzauges family friends always offer us this delicious potted pork. It is a specialty of the Loire region (where Tours is located) and an alternative to French liver pates which are not universally liked:
