Amazing French historical theme park in our region

This historical theme park is one of the most amazing places I have ever been to and is like nothing I have seen before - it beats Eurodisney hands down, despite coming second to this US export in terms of most visited theme parks in France (1.5 million visitors a year). The park attracts mainly the French and is little known outside France but they have translation headsets for key shows.

There are over a dozen shows running each at their own venue at multiple times during the day between May and Oct. The large and spectacular performances include:

- Secret of the Lance set in front of a medieval castle
- Vikings with plenty of special effects and fireballs
- Gladiators in an amphitheatre with slaves, lions, chariots
- Phantom birds dance with falcons swooping very close
- Richelieu's musketeers with their swash-buckling fights.

The evening Cinescenie show takes place on the largest stage in the world with thousands of actors and hundreds of horses and fireworks telling the story of the history of the area. Most of the participants are volunteers - many of the locals from our village have been a part of this special event at some stage and are very proud of it.

See more at Le Puy du Fou's website: puydufou.com/en

Le Puy du Fou features heavily in the Tour de France. Why not stay at our Pouzauges house nearby for the race and/or go see the shows - our place is only ten minutes drive away from the theme park:

Le Puy du Fou will be featured on the Channel 9 show Getaway this Thursday night - watch out for it.
