Sharon's latest trip: Paris et Provence pour Paques

Only a 2 week trip the week before and after Easter but that was enough to fill the French void I had from not visiting France for a year prior to that. So Paris to start and revisited some of the places from the past with new twists: shopping on the Champs you can always find new fashions/fads; the Pere Lachaise cemetery sadly had a new edition post the Charlie Hebdo massacre (and Oscar Wilde's grave site now partially protected from red lipsticked kisses); and, found Le Train Bleu above the Gare de Lyon for a quick breakfast on the way to its name sake, then Provence.

After visiting Lyon previously only for its Festival of Lights in winter, it was most pleasant to take the hop on/hop off bus to see all the sites and walk around Old Lyon and the basilica prior to a bouchon dinner.

Provence is always perfect - as we arrived in  Isle sur la Sorgue for the normal normal Sunday markets and the Easter antique fair, there was glorious sunshine which made our picnic lunch at Fountaine de Vaucluse gorgeous. After lunch, we drove to all the Vaucluse villages we could fit in including Gordes, Roussillon, Menerbes and Lacoste. Before heading home, a stop over at the seaside harbour village of Bandol via my favourite La Ciotat. Finally, close to the Marseille airport and Aix en Provence, a poignant visit to Les Milles, the preserved WW2 internment camp.

Next trip will be David's in July for our tour

New places for rent in Paris and sale under 100k E

Another part share available: We have advertised a few part shares in recent newsletters - they have been very popular, so be quick for this one if you are interested in a quarter share of this cottage in the southwest of France. Situated in Auvergne, Les Cayrouses is currently owned by four couples from Newcastle. The cottage, in a small hamlet, is restored in traditional French style over three levels and sleeps 6-10 people. Price of a 25% share is 48,500 euro:

Languedoc properties for sale: As promised in our previous newsletter, we have now have new properties, very reasonably priced, in the Languedoc for sale: one is a charming village house with 50m2 of living space for 39,000 euro and the other is a village house to modernise with loads of potential for 48,857 euro.

LBV properties for sale: You will recall us mentioning Sally from LBV and their properties for sale in Brittany. We have another house from there for 65,700 euro but LBV are expanding to other regions: they have a SW place for sale in L'isle-Jourdain for 38,580 euro.

If you are looking for Paris apartments, French Experience based in Melbourne can assist. They are a small team, with a love for France and Paris, specialised in catering for Australian and New Zealand travelers, for short term apartment rentals, for business or pleasure, from standard to luxury apartments.

We now also have two adjacent apartments for rent in Paris in the 9th arrondissement. One sleeps four, with 2 king beds, and the studio next door sleeps two. Both are untypical, poetic, cosy, calm, comfortable, typically Parisian and owned by French artists (former actors and dancers, now teachers). They are situated under the eaves (attic rooms) on the sixth floor of a 200 year old stone building overlooking Parisian rooftops. Rent from only $495-650 AUD a week.
