Smoking

  • Smoking is now banned in public areas (law came in Feb 2007) and fines can be applied for breaking this law.
  • It will be banned in cafes and bars from Jan 2008 and until then restaurants/cafes are supposed to be divided into smoking and non-smoking sections.
  • Currently 40% of French people’ as well as 25% of French doctors, smoke.
