French Children Dont Get Fat
Thought when first seeing this book, French Children don't Throw Food, besides being reminded of Mireille Guiliano's book, how true - French children are well behaved. Hadn't thought about it before, but the author of this book, an American who reluctantly had to live in Paris for a time, Pamela Druckerman, is absolutely right. Have never seen a French child throw a tantrum in the supermarket or French parents having to reprimand kids at a restaurant. So what was the answer, why is this so? Wish we had have had this book before raising our children but the answer, as this book explains, revolves around the notion of seemingly selfish parenting but really parents in France are just showing love using French culture. You can see elements of well-documented theories like controlled crying and routine, not that the French do it because of this, it is just what they do! For any soon to be parent, a not to miss practical guide.
